What’s even more odd than Polestar’s naming convention, which orders its cars not by class, but when they go on sale? Why, it’s to give the new Polestar 4 (which sits in price and size between the Polestar 2 and 3 – go figure) no rear window whatsoever. It’s rather anti-dog, but that feature – together with a silhouette that’s more raised saloon than lowered SUV – does help the Polestar 4 stand out against electric rivals. But is it enough to challenge the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche? FIRST LOOK: McLaren P1 Drift Car – Mad Mike’s Rotary-Swapped ‘MadMac’!
This is the world’s most insane drift car. A mutated McLaren, it’s the brainchild of ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett, with a little help from McLaren experts Lanzante and luxury car specialists O’Gara Coach. Now, a McLaren P1 drift car would have been silly enough, but ‘MadMac’ (as it’s affectionately known) fuses a P1 body with a 650S GT3 carbon chassis for the added protection of the latter’s roll cage. Oh, and then whatever McLaren V8 you were expecting has been ditched for a turbocharged, triple-rotor set-up.
