Helicopter carrying Iran’s president suffers a ‘hard landing,’ state TV says, and rescue is underway

Iranian state TV aired footage of President Ebrahim Raisi on a visit to the country's northeast on Sunday before his helicopter reportedly suffered a “hard landing”. Raisi was traveling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province and was shown to be alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. State TV said the incident happened near Jolfa, a city on the border with with the nation of Azerbaijan, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
